Poo Poo Platter Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

jim_carson: I brought a new container up this morning, but was grossed out by the trail's need for CIPO (cache in, poo out) - in the 0.2 miles from the trial head to the cache, I found seven plastic bag-wrapped "trackables" left by the previous dog owners and watched as a pet "visited" right in the middle of the trail. Sigh - after a dog-year run, it's time to stay. Poo Poo Platter happens.

Geocache Description:

Geocaching makes you hungry all hours of the day and night. So, if you get a craving for a midnight cache, come on out and let Tiger Mountain serve you up a "Poo Poo Platter." Ahhhhh, there's nothing like the smell of a fresh cache with a side of wet moss served over dark, damp woods.

Some important things:

  • The cache is not at the above coordinates, but you already knew that because there's a giant, blue question mark. The posted coordinates are the parking lot for Seattle Paragliding, near Tiger Mountain/Poo Poo Point. There are posted signs saying "no parking after dark;" however, there is street parking just north of the entrance.

  • Bring a flashlight. For best results hold it near your head when you aim.

  • The hike is short (less than 1km) and scenic; however, the path is narrow and twisty, with lots of roots and rocks.

Please be careful. As with any cache please be aware of your surroundings. There are sword ferns and banana slugs and possibly those large northwe't spiders. :-)

From the posted coordinates, walk east, across the field, over Paraglider's Secret (GCR0T1) to The Chirico Trail sign trailhead (see additional waypoint). On the corner of the wooden fence on the right, you'll see a white reflective tack. (The trailhead photo shows what it looks like in daylight. At night, they're very visible.) Let the glints guide you. The tree near the final is marked with two tacks: an orange one approximately 12' off the ground and a white one a foot beneath that. (Should you pass this and realize you're not seeing tacks anymore, turn around, there are tacks on the other side. Nifty, eh?)

The lock-n-lock container tucked in a nook right off the trail.

You will not need to step off the trail to retrieve the container.

I would appreciate it if you re-hid it with rocks to prevent the container from falling out and devoured by ravenous banana slugs in search of 24-hour coffee. Let me know if there are any maintenance issues. Otherwise, Have fun.
