Observando a encosta ingreme da montanha acima de Fajã Grande, você não acreditaria que há um trilho até ao cimo! A populaçao chama este caminho velho "Escada do Céu". A conexão direta do oceano às montanhas é íííííngreme. Você deve planear 2 horas e mais para subir, apreciar o miradouro de Fajã Grande, e retornar para baixo. Campismo N 39°27.195 W 31°15.946 para tendas, toilettas e chuveiros – todo gratuito. Balneario em N 39°27.540 ' W 31°15.735 ' há uma pequena prainha; (o bar/restaurante nao é gratuito…

Vá a N 39°27.332 ' W 31°15.403 '. Deixe a estrada pavimentada (imagem) e siga os sinais do trilho "PR3/FLO" (amarelo no vermelho) ao longo de uma ribeirinha. A subida começa após aproximadamente 300 m; até à esconderião somente 170 m em linha aerea, mas a cache são 270 m de subida. Nós contámos 35 curvas. Perto de uma porta de madeira a cache está escondido num muro. Você terá com cuidado de remover duas pedras pequenas para apanhar a caixa.
(A cache pode também ser alcançado vindo pela montanha: Deixe a estrada pavimentada em N 39°26.180 ' W 31°13.870 '. Siga numa estrada vermelha de cascalho até N 39°27.100' W 31°14.200'. A partir daqui não vá de carro. Siga os sinais do trilho "PR3/FLO". Em N 39°27.088 ' W 31°14.509 ' procure uma porta de madeira; passe, feche a porta e siga os sinais. Andando todo o trilho até Fajã Grande precisará de 2 horas.)

Observing the escarpment above Fajã Grande, you wouldn’t believe there’s a way up! Local people call this old trail “Escada do Céu” (ENG: Stairway to Heaven, DEU: Himmelsleiter). The direct connection from ocean to mountains is just steeeeep. You should plan 2 hours plus something to get the cache, enjoy birdview of Fajã Grande, and return downstairs. Free campsite, lavatories and showers at N 39°27.195' W 31°15.946'. Balneario at N 39°27.540' W 31°15.735' has 10 square metres of sand beach – wow! Bar and restaurant are not free .
Go to N 39°27.332’ W 31°15.403’. Leave the paved road (see photo) and follow the signs of trail “PR3/FLO” (yellow on red). This will lead you on cobblestones, overgrown by grass, between pastures and along a tiny river. The stepped part of walkway starts after about 300 metres; from there to cache it is only 170 metres air distance but 270 metres up. We’ve counted 35 u-turns on that way. Near a wooden gate the cache is hidden in a wall. You will have carefully to remove two minor stones to get the box. Put everything back in the same position by the end of your visit.
(The cache can also be reached from the mountainside: Leave the paved road at N 39°26.180’ W 31°13.870’. Move on a red gravel road until N 39°27.100’ W 31°14.200’. Do not go any further by car. Follow the signs of trail “PR3/FLO”. At N 39°27.088’ W 31°14.509’ look ahead for a wooden gate, pass through, close it behind you, and continue to follow the signs. Walking all the way down to Fajã Grande will require 2 hours. Before you do so, check how to get back to your car
