A little about the Japanese Garden from the Japanese Garden Society
of Houston web site:
The Japanese Garden in Hermann park was created by the American and
Japanese buidsness with many donations from indivudial people and
other companies. This garden is a daimyo* style and holds an
assortment of plants. The teahouse was donated to the garden by the
Commemorative Association of the World Expo Fund of Japan, from
Prime Minister Kaifu.
The garden is in Hermann park nearby a museum and many other
places I suggest you visit.
*daimyo: The most powerful Japanese rulers from 12th-19century. The
word daimyo in English means great name. Click here for more info on the
daimyo era.
A haiku is a form of Japanese poetry which consists of 3 lines. The
first line of the poem should have 5 syllables, the second line
should have 7 syllables, and the 3rd line should also have 5
syllables. To log your find for this cache, you must wright a haiku
poem of your visit. For example:
My fiftieth find:
Of the cache which was hidden,
Muggles paid no heed.
Note that the verses do not have to rhyme, and how short a haiku
is. I'm not about to make you write a short log though. You can
still write a normal log, but at least one haiku MUST be
included in your log or it will be deleted. If you want to go
for the super ssp challange, try writeing 3 haikus in a row in your
log. Good luck with your poems!
