Geocache Description:

Welcome to the 5th cache by "Keeper of Time".

Any time of the day, any day of the year …. the views around here are stunningly different each and every time.

This is a quick traditional cache very close to what is said to be the best example of a volcanic mamelon formation of solvsbergite (soda trachyte) in the world, and other than in this area only found in the districts of Norway and Sweden.

It is thought this monolith was a refuge for bushrangers during the Gold Rush era, particularly the notorious "Mad Dan Morgan" whose name is attributed to certain features to be found on the walk to the nearby Pinnacles like Morgan's Lookout and Morgan's Blood Waterfall.

The nearby formation used to be called Mt Diogenes but is now known by a much more appropriate and well known name
(Oh .... and don't forget to bring a picnic !!!).

The cache is a 1 litre Sistema container hidden close to the side of the road so please be careful during the busy warmer months and watch out for traffic.

Please ensure that it is well hidden before you leave and I would ask that you help maintain the standard of the cache by placing quality swaps only. As always, be mindful of the local wildlife both good and bad.
