I write this to all of the geocachers in hopes that you can help.
My uncle Marcus told me of his brother's disappearance in the
1940's while working for Universal Mining Company. My
uncle said that during his work as a surveyor, his brother found or
heard something that caused him to act differently towards him, but
would not talk about it. One week before the first press release
concerning the building of the dam, the company stated that Gavin
died while working a job north of the Fontana mine. Gavin's wife
contacted uncle Marcus about her concerns, and he tried to talk to
his & Gavin's bosses, but he was brushed off, and once told to
mind his own business if he wanted to keep his job. When the family
asked for the remains, they were told that the body had been lost.
To this day, nobody knows where Uncle Gavin's body is.
Uncle Marcus has spent most of his life searching for answers
concerning what happened to his brother, but he had come up with
very little by the time he had passed on. After his passing, I
helped my aunt clean out the attic of his belongings. In a trunk, I
found a book of job related papers from his time with Universal
Mining. See attached image below.
I have spent a lot of time trying to figure out what happened to my
uncle, but have come up empty handed. All I've found were the items
mentioned above.
Please help me find out what happened to my uncle!
