Cache IS located 2617 feet and 79º (east of north) from the listed
location.
This projection is through a prairie preservation project.
(McKnight
Prairie.) You'll find the "gate" to the preserve just to the
northeast of the parking area.
In the heat of summer, catch the cooling breeze the pioneers had
as they trekked across the prairie. In the fall, observe the
pheasants and other fowl hidden among the shades of gold and brown
of the prairie and the fields nearby. In the winter, admire the
harshness of this windswept land. And during our favorite season,
spring, admire the abundance of wildflowers, including the
hard-to-find pasque flower and prickly pear. In any season, please
note in your log the native flora and fauna as well as their
struggle against invasive species.
This cache was placed with the thoughtful permission of the
director of the preservation project. Please refer to
Guidelines for Geocaching and Letterboxing in the Arb. As you
cross the prairie, please stick to the paths (some of which may be
overgrown); and do not remove anything except from the cache.
