Close to one of the entrances to the NEW Rails to Trails hiking and biking trail. Easy stop and grab.
This cache is to bring you to the area and to become familar with a NEW hiking and biking trail which is currently being made usable. It is "privately owned" but one can get permission to use the trail for its intended purposes. For the geocachers, you do not have to actually go on the trail (without permission) but hopefully, this will provoke interest in it.
It is being created from an abandoned railroad which connected Fredericksburg and Dahlgren during the war. After the war, it was turned over to CSX and has passed through several hands since then.

NOTE: If you are interested in getting permission to use the trail, you could go to DRHT@yahoogroups.com and find out how to obtain the permission. The No Trespassing signs are due to some local opposition to creating a trail for public use. You could read about it in Free Lance Star.
