Would you like to hike to the bird-cliffs, north of Gjógv?
This is a pleasant walk, which takes about 2-3 hours, depending on how often you stops to enjoy the view – and how used you are hiking! Don´t go, if it is windy or wet weather conditions!
The trip will take you along the cliff edge, where fulmars and puffins are sitting in the summertime, and up to “Hálsurin” where you will find a refreshing water spring - a favoured resting place for the local shepherds. You can enjoy the view over Ambadal, a beautiful valley all covered in grass except for a single stone, Festirsteinur, which, of course, has its own story...
The cache is placed nearby the water spring, in about 423 meters height! It is a ½ liter plastic-box in a black plasticbag.
The area is private, but if you buy a map from the shop in Gjógv (Debesar Shop) and sticks to the marked paths, you are welcome. Buing the map, you are simultaneously supporting the landowners in their maintenance of fences and gates. With the map in your hand, you will also get some interesting informations about the areas you go through!
