CHECK CURRENT REGULATIONS ON LAKE LEGAL ISSUES BEFORE PADDLING!

Up until last year you were not allowed to paddle Portage Lake. They lifted the ban. Please don't paddle under a falling ice chunk. I would feel bad and they might close it again. The best way to get there is from the edge of the port where the tour boat leaves. They really don't like you doing it, but it is legal. If you have questions talk to the ladies at the VISITOR CENTER not the tour boat center. They are knowledgable and actually want you to enjoy yourself. Winds kick up on this lake and can be quite dangerous. Check weather conditions. Yes, this cache is difficult to get to, but given the proper weather and gear, you won't ever have a better caching experience. If you go in the winter on skis, visit Ben Geo'en in Whittier and have a burger before skiing back. Summertime is a little more difficult, but the trek into Whittier but it can be done. Good luck. Thanks Ridgeseeker for another great outing!
(visit link) might give you some insight on a different approach to this problem.
