Fontána Družby na Námestí Slobody je najväcšou
fontánou v Bratislave.
Fontána postavená podla návrhu Juraja Hovorku, Tibora Bártfaya,
Karola Lacku, Ing. arch. Virgila Droppu a Ing. Juraja Hlavicu

EN:
The Freindship Fountain at the Freedom Square is the biggest
fountain in the City of Bratislava.
The fountain has been buid based on the project of Juraj Hovorka,
Tibor Bártfay, Karol Lacko, Virgil Droppa and Juraj Hlavica in the
year 1980.
The heart of the fountain is the lime-tree blossom made of rustless
with avarege of 9 meters and weight of 12 tonns, which stands on a
pillar in the middle of circle basin with average of 45
meters.
The basin has a form of circle cut-outs divided to smaller basins,
which were build in a cascade one over another. The difference in
altitude of the cascades is 2.5 meter, the total cubic capacity of
the fountain water is 2 000 m3.
The own Freedom Square experienced several changes –
once some huge statues, or not a very popuplar name (Gottwald
Square). But in the first line the square was a place, where
several important events happened.
One of the most curious has been the one from year 1897 –
when the Slovak inventor Jan Bahyl as the first on the world fly up
here in his own construction of helicopter.
