About Concordia
If you live in or around Montreal, you probably already know
that Concordia is a big part of the city's unique character and
overall appeal.
Drawing students from near and far, Concordia University,
located in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, mirrors the diversity,
openness and acceptance that lie at the very root of Montreal's
reputation as a world-class metropolis, where business, science and
technology, medicine, education, the arts and entertainment all
continue to thrive.
Concordia maintains two campuses, one in the downtown core (Sir
George Williams Campus) and the other in the west end of Montreal
(Loyola). Both are less than 10 km apart and are connected by a
free shuttle-bus service.
At one time, the two campuses were individual educational
facilities. Loyola was originally a college founded by the Jesuits
in the early 20th century and Sir George Williams was a learning
institution operated by the YMCA. The two were brought together to
form Concordia University in 1974 and, as the saying goes, the rest
is history.
Concordia now has a student population topping the 30,000 mark,
and is widely heralded for its interdisciplinary approach to
learning, accessibility to students of all ages and backgrounds,
and concern for the
individual.
