Geocache Description:

Continuing the series of caches in villages around Dorking that begin with W.

Westcott lies about 1.5 miles West of Dorking on the A25 and the village has a number of beautiful English country lanes running through it. Milton St, where this cache starts, is one such lane. It is a private road (please don't park on it) as well as a public bridleway. It was originally part of a village (Milton) and country estate, and there are many interesting old houses and cottages along the street, several between 300 and 500 years old. They were used by the estate workers and their children (stables, market garden, gamekeeper's cottage, school, laundry, sweet shop, odd job man's house etc.). At the southern end there is a beautiful lake, now Bury Hill Fisheries, renowned for its exceptional angling.

The cache is not at the published coords; these point to the scene of many of my recent sporting triumphs (and disasters).

Unlike my other caches, in this one I am going to tell you exactly how to solve the puzzle -- but I still think it will be taxing. The puzzle is based on crossword-style clues which each must be solved in several stages. All the clues work in exactly the same way. Here is a hypothetical example:

Initial clue: Enlightened by now? (8, 3)

stage 1: solve clue to give answer= Inspired yet?

stage 2: form an anagram = serendipity (mostly one word here, sometimes two)

stage 3: think of synonym = chance

stage 4: remove one letter and rearrange if necessary = CACHE (this is the FINAL ANSWER).

The initial clues are set out as a traditional crossword which should be completed with the stage 1 answers. You then need to perform stages 2-4 on each element in order to obtain the coords of the micro. The order of the initial clues below must be used for decoding. Download the crossword grid here:- Click for crossword here

Naturally, I am happy to verify your stage 1 solutions to each of these clues if you contact me by email. If you solve the crossword, and complete the other stages for each clue, you can get the coordinates for the cache.
