We thought this area was so geologically interesting the first time
we came, we decided to leave a cache here on our return trip. If
any geologists know how this was formed, please let us know.
To get here, take Hwy 78 to Murphy Flat Road, then left on
Doughty Road. Follow the road until you pass a dump station on the
left and farm buildings on the right. About a half mile further,
look for an old fence line. Turn right just before the fence and
follow that road around the field. After a right turn, look for an
opening in the fence, turn left, and that road takes you down into
the canyon.
Alternate route (less driving but more hiking): Drive south from
Kuna on Swan Falls Road, and drop down to Swan Falls Dam. Walk
across the dam, and hike up the road to the cache.
