Genossinnen und Genossen Geocacher! Am Kampf - und Feiertag der Arbeiterklasse würdigen wir die Leistungen der Wismut-Kumpel in ihrem Bemühen um eine flächendeckende Uranversorgung der Bevölkerung! Prolog: Um im Kalten Krieg mithalten zu können, musste eine Weltmacht Atomwaffen besitzen. Ein beträchtlicher Teil des Urans für die Union der Sozialistischen Sowjetrepubliken (UdSSR) kam seit 1945 aus der DDR, vor allem aus Sachsen. Auf der Suche nach neuen Lagerstätten wurde 1963 mit der Bohrung 1210 das Königsteiner Vorkommen entdeckt.
Cache: Unternimm eine Zeitreise in das Jahr 1964 und lande an einem schönen Spätsommertag in Leupoldishain. Mach einen Ausflug in diesem weniger bekannten Teil der Sächsischen Schweiz. Die erste Pause gönnst Du Dir an der Freilichtbühne. Sie wurde erst vor fünf Jahren von den Einwohnern im Rahmen des Nationalen Aufbauwerks (NAW) errichtet und hat 1200 Sitzplätze. Bei der Wismut-Großveranstaltung vor ein paar Tagen war aber höchstens die Hälfte besetzt. Nach einem kleinen Abstecher Backstage geht die Wanderung weiter.
Auf Deinem Weg liegt nun der schönste Klettergipfel der Gegend. Du besteigst ihn über den Alten Weg (Kletterführer: *Alter Weg IV ; Paul Jacob, P. Täubrich, Sommer 1912 – In der Südseite Wand zu Band. Links Riß z. G.) Auf dem Band fällt Dir etwas aus der Hosentasche, aber Du hast jetzt gerade keine Hand frei...
Weiter geht es zu einer kleinen geologischen Sehenswürdigkeit, der abgetrennten Wandschale. Du erkundest die umliegenden Felsspalten und kletterst an der Wandschale bis zu einer Sanduhr. Von hier aus kannst Du bis zur Baustelle am Schacht 387 schauen. Wo werden wohl die Abraumhalden des entstehenden Bergwerks hinkommen? Und wird man hier zukünftig noch wandern dürfen?
Noch einmal legst Du eine Pause ein und dann geht es zurück in die Gegenwart. Leider fehlen in Deinem Rucksack Bemmbüchse, Löffel, etwas Geld und Dein Aktivisten-Abzeichen.
Für die Tour benötigst Du robuste Kleidung. Es ist egal, wo Du zu suchen beginnst.
Epilog: Der Uranabbau wurde 1990 eingestellt, das Gelände wird saniert, die unterirdischen Schächte werden kontrolliert geflutet. Die Strahlenwerte werden im Allgemeinen eingehalten. Und der Abraum von Schacht 387? Sieh selbst…

At the day of fight and celebration of the working class we appreciate the achievements of the miners of SDAG Wismut and their efforts in supplying the population with uranium all over the country! Prologue: Any global power needed nuclear arms to keep up in the Cold War. Since 1945 an important contingent of uranium for the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) came from the GDR mainly from Saxony. While searching for new deposits in 1963 the deposit in Königstein was discovered by drilling 1210.
Cache: Do a time travel to 1964, touch down in Leupoldishain at a nice late summer day. Go on an excursion in this less known region of Saxon Switzerland. Take the first break at open air theatre. It was built up only five years ago in the scope of the NAW initiative by the local inhabitants. The big event of Wismut some days ago filled at most the half of the 1200 seats. After a short sidetrip backstage you continue your tour.
Now the best climbing rock of the area is on your way. You get up through the climbing route Alter Weg (Climbing guide: Alter Weg IV ; Paul Jacob, P. Täubrich, Summer 1912 – In the south side wall to ledge. On the left side crack to top.) At the ledge you lose something from your trouser pocket, but at the moment you do not have any free hand…
The excursion goes on to a little geological sight, the separated rock wall. You explore the nearby crevices and you climb up at the separated rock wall to a sandglass formation. From here you can look to the building site at mine shaft 387. Where will they place the mining waste heaps? And will it be allowed to wander here in the future?
Once again you take a break and after that you return to the presence. Sadly some things are missing in your rucksack: lunchbox, spoon, some money and your activist badge. For this tour you will need robust clothes. It doesn’t matter where you start searching.
Epilogue: The uranium mining was stopped in 1990, the area is in renovation, the submontane mine shafts are floated. Mostly the limits for radiation are followed. And the mining waste heaps of shaft 387? Find it out by yourself…
