The cache is located on the edge of the former wartime USAF base at Polebrook and is within easy walking distance of a fitting tribute to the brave crews, which at one time included Hollywood actor (Major) Clark Gable. Although hardly anything remains of the old airbase, the area is flat, hard ground so mud shouldn't be a problem and, as you can normally drive right to the cache, ought to be ok for the disabled as long as the person is able to reach up approx five feet from ground level.
A huge parking area is available in and around the cache site, but if the gate is closed, there is room for two or three cars just off the road by the gate itself.
The cache itself is a brown alloy cylinder - it's quite small - so much so that a pen won't fit, so please bring one with you. Inside is a log sheet with just enough room for your name and date.
Please take time to visit the memorial nearby and you also may like to drive back through Polebrook village itself (once the home of Ginger Baker of rock group Cream fame) and try to spot the one handed clock on the church - believed to be the only working example in the country.
