Geocache Description:

I was fortunate enough the be able to adopt this fantastic cache from a pair of awesome cachers. Thanks to Team Gremlin!!!!

This cache is located at the site of the Sandy Ridge sawmill, which operated as late as 1920.

This is a 2WD accessible cache very near Carranza Road.
Located at the site of one of several ruins in the area. You can see the mount for the steam engine of the sawmill sticking up out of the ground like a tree stump. Look for the threaded steel rods that bolted the engine to the mount. Also in the area are the cellar pits of the mill and at least three other buildings. There were apparently several shanty huts that housed the mill workers. See if you can find any more architectural features! Have a walk around and imagine what it was like to hear the whine of the sawblade as it knifed through lengths of pitch pine. You can almost smell it if you try.

The cache is covered in Gremlin Piney Camouflage© that should not be too terribly difficult for those with a trained cacher eye. Log only. Please replace cache as found.

When seeking this cache, you are on a site that carries a rich history. The Pine barrens are precious, and the ruins are literally a museum. Please respect the ruins and do not disturb them in any way.

This cache is located in an area with cellar pits, so is not recommended at night. Log only cache, bring a pen!
