“A Cup of Coffee” description

Hill Roznik (read: "ROGE NICK") is situated only 30 minutes of walk western from the centre of Ljubljana . It is a popular pathway for a quick escape from the town, especially among people of Ljubljana . However, it is not so well known among foreign tourists. Roznik is also an old Slovenian word for the month June.

The road leading to the Roznik hill was built in 1834. It has not changed much since although it was being reconstructed in 1937-1938. To approach the hill and the cache you can park your car at N46 03.358 E14 28.871 (Ljubljana , Cesta na Roznik 20 or 35 for auto-routing GPS).

Top of the hill Roznik is approximately 100 m above the Ljubljana and it is ~20 m higher than Grad hill, which dominates over the old town of Ljubljana . Located at the peak is a church, which was built in 1746. Below the peak is an inn where Slovenian writer Ivan Cankar lived from 1910 to 1917. To commemorate that period and the writer the hill was named Cankarjev vrh.

Ivan Cankar was one of the most important European authors at the turn of the century and commented strongly on social, national, and moral issues. Although he followed the most modern European literary trends, his work is genuinely original. However his symbolistic sketches and other short stories, in their mixture of symbolism, modernism and even expressionism, have sometimes been paralleled to Franz Kafka and James Joyce. At the hill you can find a memorial room of Ivan Cankar that was set up as museum collection by City Museum of Ljubljana.

As a tribute to 130 years from the birth of Ivan Cankar, the greatest Slovenian short story writer and dramatist, we set up a cache - “A Cup of Coffee”. It is named after one of his well known short stories. The cache is located close to the popular inn where he lived, so please be careful when searching for it. A lot of potential muggles will walk by when you will search for the cache (this is one of the challenges related to finding this cache), however please note that the popularity of the area is also due to wonderful nature that is surrounding the spot.
