On the way to Camp Bovay!
Before a recent trip to Camp Bovay with my Cub Scout for an overnighter, I noticed there were scarcely any caches along State Highway 6 between Hempstead and College Station. So we decided to plant a contribution of the geocaching kind to help provide an excuse for those wishing for a stop along the way.
The container is a Laura Scudder's Peanut Butter jar painted drab green with pirate dubloons, kid toys, and various other small swag inside.
The location is in Grimes County, a little over a 1/4 mile east of State Highway 6, along the right of way of County Road 317 (the online maps seem to incorrectly indicate CR 318), which leads to the front gate of Camp Bovay. There just happens to be a convenient place to turn around and park right near the cache location.
03-29-2008 Update: Due to its surprising popularity with both campers and those passing by, the container has been upgraded to a 50-cal ammo can. Plenty of room now for travel bugs, geocoins, and larger swag!
