The ninth in a series of caches located on or close to the
Sandstone Trail.
The Sandstone Trail is a long distance trail running 32 miles
from Frodsham to Whitchurch. This cache is located just below the
trigpoint on Rawhead which is the highest point on the trail at 227
metres (746ft in real measurement).
The best place to park is by the telephone kiosk at N53 04.730
W002 43.628 by Gallantry Bank. This is on a minor road on the
Bickerton side of the A534. There is nowhere convenient to park on
the Rawhead side of the A534. This is the same parking as used for
Rhododendrons and Sandstone and the walk will take you past this
cache. There is closer parking up New Lane which is a dead end on
the other side of the hill but we would ask that cachers do not
park along this narrow lane. It is a stiff climb from Gallantry
Bank but the walk will do you good!
This area will be familiar to some cachers as there used to be a
cache called Rawhead hidden very close by. There has been a lot of
tree clearance in the area recently and the views have opened up
considerably.
The co-ordinates are an average taken over a couple of visits.
The cache is a tupperware container in a camouflage bag. Please
make sure that the cache is properly concealed when you replace it
so that it is not noticeable to inquisitive explorers.
