Geocache Description:

The cache is NOT at the posted coordinates!

You may be aware that the QD in QDman stands for questioned documents. I thought I'd put out a series of caches based on the type of work I do on a day to day basis as a forensic document examiner.

Some people try to hide what has been written. They may use opaquing fluid such as Liquid Paper (Can you name the musician who's mom invented it?). They may use another pen. They may even burn the document. In each of these cases, we may be able to decipher the obliterated writing.

Most often, we use a specialized piece of equipment called the Video Spectral Comparator, commonly known as the VSC. With it, we can examine documents using various filters and wavelengths of light to try to create enough contrast between the writing and the background to read the obliterated writing.

Sometimes, though, instead of using $85,000 worth of equipment to do the job, we can scan the document into our desktop computer and do the decipherment right there.

Now it's your turn. Just decipher the obliterated writing to get the coordinates of the cache, which is in a small ammo can.

By the way, if we're working a case and run up against a problem we can't solve, we don't hesitate to ask another examiner for help. If you need to consult an expert on this case, you might find one here.

Have fun, and remember, I get paid to do this kind of stuff. ;-)
