Geocache Description:

The cache is located after a short walk along the canal towpath.

This cache is a tumbler sized screw top plastic container.
It will hold only small items so we have decided to make it a PIN BADGE cache where you are welcome to exchange pin badges or add to the number of pin badges in the cache. Being along side the canal, badges relating to the waterways would be most appropriate ie. boats, birds, fish, locks etc. however any pin badges would be OK, or just sign the log of your visit, thanks.
Graham Palmer, a champion for recruiting the army of volunteers to work on the restoration and preservation of our canals. In 1969 he was awarded the prestigious Cyril Styring Trophy for his work on the Ashton canal in 1968. The lock adjacent to this cache is called the Graham Palmer Lock.
We were fortunate enough, in recent years, to witness the restoration of this section of the Montgomery Canal. Not being canal enthusiasts, were amazed to watch an overgrown ditch become a vibrant navigable waterway. Now we take pleasure in walking the towpath watching the many species of birds along the canal and in the adjacent fields.
Original contents of cache:- A selection of 13 pin badges, Geocache notices, log book, pencils, and pencil sharpener.
