One to All Traditional Cache

geodarts: I had intended to replace this but overzealous security, the expense of coming out this way, health issues, and the like made me rethink it.

Since an adventure lab brings people here, it will still be part of the game. The history and message here is important. Thanks to everyone who visited.

Geocache Description:

Near San Francisco's waterfront (Mission and Steuart) is a plaque and a mural that commemorate an important part of the city's history.

The plaque explains the events of July 5, 1934, when two workers were killed during a strike by longshoreman to obtain a hiring hall and a union of their own. The Longshoreman's Association headquarters at 113 Steuart Street was the nerve center of Maritime Strike. Shortly after the event of this day, the San Francisco Labor Council began a four day general strike, the most widespread in United States history. The mural portrays that time and celebrates its legacy.

The cache is a typical container that should be found easily. It is either a very big micro or a small small. Bring your own pen to sign the log. Stealth may be a factor at certain times of the day, but the hint will narrow the search.

This cache is dedicated to Bill McCarthy -- an old friend who was a longshoreman and veteran of the Abe Lincoln Brigade, who is not with us any longer. If you are interested in the history of these times, there are many areas around the waterfront that record the events from this era.
