LE FONTI, PASSAGGIO SULLA VIA FRANCIGENA - 8° cache---- The FONTI, PASSAGE On WAY FRANCIGENA - 8° cache
-----Il cache (nuovo contenitore in vetro trasparente con tappo) è stato nascosto vicino alla "PORTA delle FONTI" una delle antiche porte di accesso alla città di San Gimignano dove nel Medioevo, 1300 circa, furono costruite delle imponenti Fonti Pubbliche che poi nel corso dei secoli sono servite sia a dissetare i pellegrini e i viandanti che arrivavano nella città turrita sia i residenti della città stessa. Le Fonti si presentano con nella facciata dieci archi romanici a sesto acuto e sono state edificate vicino a quella che era la seconda cerchia di mura che proteggeva la città di San Gimignano. L'edificazione è avvenuta sopra una preesistente Fonte, forse longobarda, che addirittura viene fatta risalire al IX secolo. Le Fonti hanno al loro interno diverse vasche e si caratterizzano per le volte a botte che fra di sè sono separate da una doppia arcata poggiante su colonne con capitello. Fino a pochi anni fà le Fonti venivano ancora usate perlopiù per il lavaggio dei panni, da qualche tempo tutta la zona in cui sono comprese le antiche Fonti ha subito un notevole restauro ed adesso si presentano in tutta la loro imponenza.
Il cache è nascosto in un foro del muro a cica 80 cm. da terra ed è coperto con una pietra, risulta MOOOOLTO visibile e quindi chi lo andrà a cercare dovrà necessariamente cercare di rimettere tutto a posto per bene altrimenti il cache stesso avrà vita breve....... 
Vi consiglio anche di andare a vedere a poche centinaia di metri (N 43°28.240 - E 011°02.721 ) la chiesa di San Jacopo al Tempio, che era dei Templari , da poco restaurata, e quindi, come le Fonti Pubbliche, è stata anch'essa interessata dalla Via Francigena.

31/01/18 purtroppo devo comunicare che NESSUNO dei trackale che dovrebbero esserci è presente nel contenitore. Avvertirò i proprietari che sono stati tolti da qualche personaggio che probabilmente ha visto il nascondiglio e li ha fatti sparire. Credo che, vista la popolarità del cache e della visibilità del nascondiglio sia più prudente NON INSERIRE TRACKABLE pena la quasi sicura sparizione.

1/31/18 unfortunately I have to communicate that NO ONE of the trackable that should be there is present in the container. I will warn the owners that they have been taken away by some person who has probably seen the hiding place and made them disappear. I think that, given the popularity of the cache and the visibility of the hiding place it is more prudent NOT INSERT TRACKABLE on pain of almost certain disappearance.
