having an event of this size. Of course donations are not
mandatory, however, we welcome and are sincerely greatful for any
contributions that anyone is able to make!
Donate Using
PayPal!
Last year we took donations in advance of
the event through PayPal to help cover many of the up-front costs
of the event. This was particularily helpful for the little things
that seemed to pile up through the event planning
stages. |

About Scanlon
Creek Conservation Area
In September, 1823 Mark Scanlon and his wife Ann
immigrated to Canada from County Carlow, Ireland and acquired
approximately 1, 000 acres from the Upper Canada Land Company. In
1826 Mark Scanlon and his wife’s uncle John Thorpe built a grist
mill on what became known as Scanlon Creek. Mark Scanlon later
built two sawmills on Scanlon Creek, the first in 1832.
Today, a trail system runs throughout the
conservation area, providing hikers with a chance to explore 282
hectares of woodlands and meadows. In the spring, wildflowers and
migrating birds are plentiful, and the fall colours are
spectacular. During summer months picnicking, or fishing in the
four hectare reservoir make Scanlon a great place to spend a few
hours or an entire day. |

Fine COG
Fare
Team Woods has generously offered to man the
BBQ's again this year for us. Last year we were treated to some
fine quality fare from the Grill which was met with praise from
all who took part. We won't be making any changes to the price
of food this year which is as follows:
Hamburger: $2.00
Hot Dog: $1.50
Pop/Water: $1.00
The (not so) fine
print:
All proceeds recieved in regards to the BBQ will
be put back into the cost of hosting the event. In the event of a
surplus, all remaining proceeds will be put back into a fund for
the next event.
Look what people had to say about
last year's fare!
"Even the cooks did a superb job, great
burgers!" -JDandDD
"And the burgers were top-notch" -Permakay
"Great burgers to do the rest while we
stayed still" -Amazon Annie
"Flipping burgers by Team Woods was a huge success."
-Isquba&Nawty

Breaking News!
It has just been confirmed that t his
year's Spring Fling event will be the starting point for the
Premier Geocoin Race!
See The Premier Geocoin
Race Website for information on how to enter a geocoin into the
race. res2100 will be distributing the geocoins
that are entered to other geocachers throughout the event to
start their journey. Please help the geocoins along by moving
them to other geocaches in a timely
manner. |
Day's Activities
What else would you expect from a caching picnic! We will have
no less than 4 or 5 caching activities for everyone to enjoy.
- Of course we will also have the famous Danoshimano involved
with "Wren Nest" as the exicting sequel to last year's Animal
Hunt.
- Look forward to a "Closest To The Pin" event like you have
never experienced before
- Team Woods is back providing cookout duties as they did for
last year's event. Things seemed to work well so I don't expect
much difference (Except maybe more helpers!)
- Make sure to touch up on your "Lake Simcoe" knowledge. You may
just encounter a trivia challenge in that regard!
- Also be prepared to find all of the existing Geocaches at
Scanlon Creek if you have not already!
