Geocache Description:

ULTIMATE UPDATE 13th March, 2017: THIS GC IS DISABLED FOR UNDETERMINED TIME.

Between Manzan and Pomjan villages, near Koper. Just beside the walking trail, altitude 247 m ASL.

Important update: the inn in Pomjan mentioned has been closed as of March, 2015 for undetermined time.

The area can be reached from the main road from Koper to the border crossing wih Croatia named Dragonja / Kaštel, and vice-versa of coarse. There are two alternatives. From Koper follow the main road and turn left in direction Marezige and after about 4 km there is the village Manžan on the right side. Or continue on the main road and turn left after about 8 km in direction Šmarje and in the end of this village left again to Pomjan that is reached after about 4 km. Of coarse, from Dragonja / Kaštel follow the opposite directions – right to Šmarje / Pomjan or right to Marezige / Manžan.

The cache is hidden just beside the hike path that goes from the village Manžan at the foot of the hill to the village Pomjan at the top of the hill. If you are with a car, you can leave it at the end of Manzan, where the asphalted road itself ends and continue by walking. Or leave the car in Pomjan and walk downhill from the lower side of this village.

When you reach a wooden "hunter`s observation tower" that stands beside the path and overlooks the valley to the north, you are just on the spot. The cache is in a plastic container, hidden very near to this wooden construction.

The panorama view towards the mountains and the sea is just marvelous on a clear day, so there is a very basic binocular inside the container. Please, do not remove it as to benefit the other geocachers. Other items inside are free to trade; there are postcards of the area (please bring some of your own area if you can), few coins of local currency, a selection of souvenirs from all around, and of coarse a notebook with a couple of pencils.

There is also the gsm mobile number of the "maintenance service" on the notebook if you want to report something out of order or just say Hello, we found it or you need area assistance of any kind.

If you become hungry during, before or after the walk there is an excellent inn (or cellar) where the exquisite local Istrian cuisine is served and is situated in Pomjan, at the top village. It is open during the weekends. UPDATE: This inn has been closed since March, 2015. So, no njami-njami to be planned there!

From Pomjan there are numerous waking trails to the south, for example through the village Fijeroga to the Dragonja river valley. If you choose to walk around this area you will get the feeling of Istria hinterland, where the time goes much slower, so to speak.
