This cache is located about a 1/4 mile walk out on the nature trail at Bodcau recreation area. The area is closed after dark. Entry is free.
This cache is along the Durden Hills nature trail that begins in the Tom Merrill Recreation Area at Bayou Bodcau Dam and Reservoir. The trail is about six miles long, but you will have to walk only about 1/4 mile from the parking area. The trail head is marked with a sign.
If you get turned around in the woods and forgot to take a reading before entering the trail, the trail head coordinates are N32 41.988; W093 30.711.
You will not need to leave the trail until you are about 50 to 100 feet from the cache. The cache is a green ammo can and contains several trade items. I left a Sacagawea dollar coin for the FTF.
Please place the cache back where you found it. Another link of the trail passes very near the cache, so the cache needs to be concealed from view of passing hikers and bikers.
To get back to the parking area, don’t try to walk back on that other link of the trail or you may be late for dinner. Return to the spot where you first left the trail and reverse course. You may want to visually mark the spot where you left the trail with some flagging or paper in a tree; just remove it on the way out. It is easy to get turned around when you are searching for a cache and there are trees and trails in all directions.
Trees can really interfere with GPS reception and make it difficult to narrow down a cache area out in the woods. If you have that trouble, the encrypted hint is fairly specific about where the cache is. If you don’t want to spoil a hunt, do not decrypt it ahead of time.
