The church was built up a steep flight of a 196 steps in an attempt to foil the devil who tried to intervene when it was being built

In the churchyard you will see the monstrous penthouse tomb where inside the bars squire Richard Cabell is interned.Cabell lived during the 1600`s and was the squire at Buckfastleigh ,he gained his evil reputation for having sold his soul to the devil.
The night of his internment saw a pack of phantom hounds coming across the moor to howl at his tomb.
People have reported seeing a strange red glow through the bars others have seen demonic creatures gathered around the grave trying to get the promised soul for their master
For 100`s of years it is thought that black magic rites are carried out at the church and at cabells tomb in particular at the back of his tomb you will see a solid wooden door this is to deter Satanists
Below the church is a system of caves which runs about 3.5 km in reeds cave is a weird natural formation known as the little man it is said to resemble a human figure dressed in17th century clothes it is said to be directly below cabells tomb.


If you run round the tomb 7 times and stick your fingers through the iron bars it is said either Cabell or the devil will bite your fingers

THERE IS NO NEED TO LOOK IN THE CHURCHYARD FOR THIS CACHE GO THROUGH THE GATE AT THE END AND GO DOWN THE PATH TO A SMALL COPSE

Each cache will contain a part co-ordinate for the bonus cache. The first 10 caches are all small pots but the last is a good size ammo box. As well as the co-ords you will find a single number in red or blue in four of the caches. You will need these later. You will need to bring a pen/cil for the logs.
