Geocache Description:

This cache is located in Morden Park, South London. It’s name, ‘Babbling Beverley,’ comes from Beverley Brook, a minor tributary of the Thames, which runs along the Southern side of the park.
Suggested parking for the cache is at N51 23.379, W000 12.703 off Lower Morden Lane. From here, you will cross the Brook on the way to the cache.

Morden Park surrounds Morden Park House, a small Georgian country house, built in the 1770s for merchant and distiller John Ewart. Now a Grade II listed building, it houses Merton Registry Office. Merton College also stands on the former gardens and farm of the house, along with a leisure centre.

In the park, surrounded by trees, is a large circular mound. This has been identified as a possible burial mound from the Iron Age, Roman or Saxon periods. Archaeological investigations were carried out in the 1950s although no conclusive proof as to its date or purpose were found.

The park is popular with dog walkers and also offers a ‘trim trail’ and pitch and putt, should you wish to spend longer here. Alternatively, Lower Morden Lane’s Christmas lights are well worth a look if you are able to time your caching for the right season.
