Vrissinas, Minoan Peak Sanctuary, 858 m, about 10 km south of Rethymnon. With the small chapel Agios Pnegma on the summit. The wiew from here is excellent to the north coast, the White Mountains in the west and Ida/Psilitoris mountain in the east.
How to get here:
1. Driving from Rethymno up the Theotokopoulou street from the main road through Rethymno where it is signposted for Roussospiti (WP1). Following the road through Ag. Irini and Roussospiti to WP2 where a blue sign "I.N.AG.PNEVMATOS" that take you up to the dirt road to the the ridge and meets the dirt road from Armeni (WP3) and also the E4. Take to the left up the ridge to WP4 and chose road to the right. From this point it is short way to the recommended parking place (N35 19.226, E24 29.031). Walk the road until it ends a bit under the summit. After passing the water building and entering the plain, passing an E4-pole and take to the left.It is possible to drive up until the last leg up to the cache, but a 4-wheel drive is recommended for this part.
2. It is also possible to take off the New Main Road east of Rethymnon by signposts against Mili and Roussospiti (WP5, WP6 and WP7) to WP2.
3. From Armeni leave the Rethymnon-Spili road to the east (left) near the entrance road to the Minoan Cemetery and take right by WPx. At this point it is place to park a few cars. From here a 4-wheel driver is recommended up to WP3 on the ridge and follow route 1 to the top.
Where the road end under the top, climb the last leg up to the chapel following red and/or blue signs, and enjoy the wiew.
