Welcome to Marquette 1974:

This cache is located at a historical location in Marquette, Iowa. The container was originally hidden near the base of a large billboard saying "Welcome to Marquette" with an image of a railroad train. (Unfortunately, the billboard was removed shortly after the cache's placement.) You will need to read the plaque on the nearby stone monument to determine what else was here in 1974.
The location for this cache is a small city park at the end of 2nd St. It features a shelter house overlooking the Mississippi River and the historic town of Marquette. There's also a stairway to the nearby hotel, several kiosks explaining the history of the area, and the monument.
Directions and cache description: Follow 2nd St. north of Highway 18 and then east until it stops. (Please pay attention to the terrain rating. No dangerous climbing is required to access the cache.) As of November 2018, the original regular-sized container has now been changed to a bison tube containing only a logbook to sign. Please bring your own pencil. Please return the cache to its original location and state of concealment.
