High & Low Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

DocDiTTo: The time has come to write the final log on High & Low. I've really enjoyed looking at the pictures and reading the logs from this cache over the years. A huge THANK YOU goes to all of you who took the time to write a detailed log of your visit to this cache. Every time I read the logs it puts a smile on my face and I often wish I could have been a participant during your adventures.

All remnants of this cache have been removed thanks to philflyboy & crew so there's no more cache to find. Still, this area is special and extremely fun to visit regardless of whether there's a log to sign. For those who want to check out the area here's some location info:

All 3 stages of High & Low were located along the orange-blazed Conestoga Trail near Pequea in Lancaster County. The nice river overlook that's shown in so many pictures here is called House Rock, and it's located at N 39° 52.740 W 076° 22.141. The parking area to use is at N 39° 52.267 W 076° 22.076. If you hike from the parking area to House Rock you'll pass the entrance to Wind Cave right along the trail. Wind Cave was the location of the final cache and is the subject of the "Passing Wind" earthcache by CCCooperAgency (GC1773M).

I'd encourage everyone to visit the area, hike the trails and check out the cave. Special places like this are hard to find, so take the time to enjoy them.

How Geocaching Works

Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

Geocache Description:

Will you rise to the challenge? Will you go to great depths for a find? Yes... you will.

The Goal: To provide an excellent outdoor adventure that will be both a mental and physical challenge for even the most experienced cacher.

The Mystery: The posted coordinates are bogus. Where is this cache, really? On a cliff face? Under water? Underground? Under a lamp post cover in a parking lot?* Solve the cipher below and begin unraveling the mystery...

The Requirements:
You will need to be in decent physical condition to complete this hunt. Non-technical climbing, hiking, crawling, bouldering, squeezing and slipping/sliding will all be part of this experience. Falling is not part of the plan but is very possible, which is why you will need at least one other adult to go with you. A team of 3 is highly recommended.

After the cipher is decoded and you arrive on site, expect to spend at least 3-5 hours on this cache. Leave the young kids and pets at home. Bring EVERYTHING that you're instructed to bring and follow ALL directions carefully. The cache area is only open from 8:00 AM to sunset; obey the rules and allow enough time to get back to your car by sunset.

The Warning
As with all caches, if you choose to attempt this one, you do so at your own risk. This hunt will take you through level 5 terrain. Come well equipped and DO NOT attempt this cache alone. You can expect to encounter hazardous locations and physical challenges during this hunt. Finding the cache will require you to put yourself in potentially dangerous situations where serious injury or worse could result if an accident happens. Please do not attempt this cache in the rain or when the ground is snow covered, for safety reasons.

Please note that this cache is rated as a difficulty 5. It will pose a challenge to even the most experienced cachers. It is certainly do-able, but it is not intended to be easy. "Larger than average" people may find some portions of this adventure to be extremely difficult or impossible, so select your teammates accordingly in order to succeed.

Whether you DNF or score the find, we guarantee you will be taken to some amazing places. How much fun you have when you get there is up to you and your spirit of adventure.

If you suffer from any of the following phobias please do not attempt this cache: Achluophobia, Automysophobia, Batophobia, Claustrophobia, Dendrophobia, Hydrophobia, Lygophobia, Myctophobia, Nyctophobia, or Scotophobia.

The Rules
If/when you score the find, be sure to replace the final cache COMPLETELY out of sight as we originally hid it.

Post no spoiler logs or pictures as they will be promptly deleted. This includes describing the area of the final cache location!

Hints will be provided only after a DNF is logged.

Congrats to Snowbrdr020 and Beth-O for being the first to find!!

*If you are really, truly hoping that this cache is "under a lamp post cover in a parking lot" then you are excused. Stay home. This one ain't for you.

Technical rock climbing & rappelling are not required to do this cache, but if you're into those you might want to allow extra time and bring your gear as there's a sweet vertical near stage 1.

Be safe, have fun!
