Geocache Description:

The target of this cache is a camouflaged canister located close to a little known and somewhat neglected memorial to the designer of the Austin Seven, Stanley Howard Edge. Parking should be obvious as you approach the co-ordinates and is befitting the designer of one of British Motor industries most iconic cars of the early 20th Century this is as close as you’ll get to a drive by cache.

Stanley Howard Edge was born on the 5th of August, 1903. He left school at the age of 14 and entered the drawing office of the Austin Motor Company. Herbert Austin admired his work and in 1922 employed Stanley to draw detailed plans for his new project - the Austin Seven. As to how or why this memorial came to be placed here I haven't a clue, do you?

Please Note: Despite the sign warning of a £2,500 fine for fly tipping and the near-by litter bin there can be quite a bit of litter around, so please considering Caching In and Trashing Out when you visit (if you have a skip handy!). However on the plus side the foliage and tree cover around the memorial has been cut back to reveal a panoramic view of Bartley Green and Frankley reservoirs and the Birmingham skyline beyond from the cache site.

The cache itself contains a log sheet and a very small pencil, please make sure its sealed and covered when you replace it. And don't foget to say hello to the cows for me if they're out, they certainly took an interest in me when I placed the cache! The clue will completely give it away.

A big, big, big thank you to Steve-e-b for providing the following link that gives you a panoramic view of the city skyline from the cache site and marks out numerous places of interest (visit link)
