Geocache Description:

UPDATE: The bridge has been replaced and the cache will be accessible from the parking lot again as soon as the snow melts.

I have been watching too much Monty Python. The theme to this cache is socks only because they are close to walks. This cache is located off of a very nice trail in the Mt. Hood National Forest. There is a great waterfall less than 1/2 mile from the cache and a beautiful creek of clear water along most of the trail.

This cache is a regular ammo box with many different silly socks (new) or other foot related things. Please, if you trade keep with the theme.

The trail is nicely maintained although it probably won't be accessible in the winter due to snow. The trail may be slick if there is rain or ice. If dogs or small children come, keep an eye out for some cliffs, loose rocks, narrow bridges and water nearby. For the first 1/2 mile you can hear traffic on the highway but don't worry it will soon be replaced with the sounds of a rushing creek. The waterfall is less than 1/2 mile from the cache so definitely continue on, it is a great spot for a little lunch. The reception was spotty so you may need the hint or if you get better coordinates let me know. As always, please make sure cache is out of view when you leave.

Directions- These are detailed so feel free to quit reading whenever you have enough. One of the easiest places to park is off highway 35 about ¼ mile North of Sherwood campground at about N 45 23.580 W 121 34.460. You will need a NW Forest Pass, $5 per day or $30 per year. From here follow the East Fork Trail #650 over the creek and towards Tamanawas Falls. It is about 2 miles and most of the elevation gain is close to the beginning. The trail is only open to hikers so no bikes or horses are allowed after you cross Cold Spring Creek. When you get to the last fork in the trail with a sign that shows the way to Elk Meadows and Tamanawas Falls, you can see the cache site, the lower trail does meet up with the upper very shortly. The cache can also be reached from the Pollalie Trailhead or the Robin Hood Campground if you are looking for a longer hike.
