Geocache Description:

GEOCACHING ON NATIONAL TRUST PROPERTY IS AT YOUR OWN RISK

This is the final cache of a series of four. You will need to have collected information from the Pitch 1, Pitch 2 and Pitch 3 caches before you can finish this one.

By now you will have an idea of what you are up against. All I can say is that this final challenge is no easier than the ones that have come before.

The above co-ordinates are for the designated Friday Street car park. These caches have been set with the kind help and co-operation of landowners, so please use the official car parks.

If you have found solace in the pubs so far, The Stephan Langton Inn is another good one and will require booking to ensure a table at a weekend.

Suggested equipment:
Good walking boots
Waterproofing (if there is even the slightest hint of rain)
WATER
OS Explorer Map 146
(or OS Landranger 187)
Compass
Mobile phone
Good walking boots
WATER
Key numbers from Pitch 1, 2, & 3
Other references along the lines of the clues!
Anything else as you see fit

GPS signals could be a little challenged too at times with both tree cover and deep valleys, so things are not designed to be easy for you. If you email us in advance of attempting this multi-cache, then we are quite happy to provide you with our mobile phone numbers for help if you should need it.

Walk to N51 12.017 W00 23.238 and find the Roman numeral of the Monach. Insert this in the following co-ordinates for your next clue.

N51 11.x23
W00 23.292

This leg is a nightmare one for GPS signal, so look for the letterbox sized tree stump on the right of the path showing in the photo.

Please, please be very cryptic in your comments, or email me directly, as it would be very easy to leave unintended spoilers in the logs (and pictures).

Most of all … enjoy this very special area!

29th April 2011 - At one stage you will need to answer a multiple-choice question that gives the coordinates to the next stage. Having checked that stage's coordinates again you may find it better to apply an offset of 0.006' south and 0.013' west and look there.

Congratulations to dene19. After 18 months the Pitch Series has been completed without assistance from Brambler (or any other caching team). Well done!

Anyone up for the title of "First to finish series in one day - without assistance"?

Congratulations to Mario McTavish who, seven years after this series was placed, became the first to complete this series in one day.

This cache has been given the Top Cache Award by Amberel. We hope you all enjoy it, and thanks to Brambler for creating this cache.
