A 3 state multi!
There aren't many places you can do a 3 state multi in a 500 metre walk! There are only 4 places in Australia where 3 states meet and this is the most accessible, at least without a river in the way! Here depending on the time of year you can be in 3 time zones, though I would suggest the cooler months are a better bet.
1) At the published coordinates is a road sign showing distances. Look for the following:
Epsilon via Omicrom = AB
Nockatunga Stn = CDE
Thargomindah via Noccundra Hotel = FGH
2) At 28 59.AFD 140 59.AFE you will find a sign about National Parks. Count the facilities available at each park - count the symbols where they exist.
Flinders Ranges NP (SA) = J
Kinchega NP (NSW) = K
Lake Bindegolly NP (QLD) = L
Be careful with L that you don't accidentally look at Simpson Desert underneath. It's easy to do.
3) Final location is a small camo lunchbox under a tree. Located at:
28 59.JJ(J-K) 141 00.LLL
Bonus points if anyone can work out the datum used to place the corner post. We couldn't make the GPS read 29 0.000 141 0.000 using any Australian datum!
Remember this is a remote area, sufficient fuel/water/food needs to be carried. Though unleaded should normally be available at this location. When we were there the road from Tibooburra had just been graded and was in excellent condition and would present no problem for a 2WD. After rain the roads may be shut, if they are not a 4WD would be necessary.
After finding the cache why not go back to Qld and celebrate with a cold beer in the Cameron Corner store - voted best outback pub by one of the 4WD magazines lately. It has a Queensland liquor licence, NSW postal address and SA area code!
