Geocache Description:

Bring a flashlight AND a backup flashlight! (A glowstick wouldn't hurt either...) Drinking water, comfortable footwear and clothing for wet conditions recommended...

** NOT FOR YOUNG CHILDREN **
** AVOID HIGH TIDE OR FLOODING **
** Do NOT go 3 hrs. BEFORE high tide **

Remember being a little kid and trying to crawl into places your parents didn't want you to go? Now's your chance!

Start at the posted coords where you'll find fishing and a small boat launch under Rt. 8 in Derby. The first challenge is finding how to access it.

Look around 240 degs. (SWW) about 600' out from the coords (hard to get good signal there). You are searching for a...let's call it the "trailhead" (which is easier to find from here). You can use your GPS to project a waypoint (it's 0.11 mile), Sight 'N Go, use GPS or compass to reverse the bearing (put the south bar at the arrow) or simply hunt for it from there.

Please be discreet at the trailhead, watch out for fishermen, boaters and berry-pickers. When they aren't looking, fine... Pace yourself, take frequent rest stops (there are two good spots to stretch)--remember you have to return the same way. (It's not far but tiring, SHOULD take more than 10 minutes each way.)

A little ways in, the "trail" splits, the cache is 30' away from that point (I'm not telling which way--you'll have to search). Did you bring gloves and kneepads?

Bonus: Go down the OTHER side of the split until you can't go straight anymore--email me the coords of that location and which way it turns (left/right).

Afterward, in early August, treat yourself to some wild raspberries right above. Enjoy! --Randy
