Drei Länder

Da das diesjährige Klenkes Event in der Euregio Maas-Rhein mit den drei Ländern Belgien, Deutschland und die Niederlande statt findet, haben wir uns gedacht, daß ihr euch zunächst die drei Länder mal von oben ansehen möchtet.

Die Strecke beträgt 2 km und hat 30 Höhenmeter. Sie ist weitestgehend asphaltiert, allerdings ist das letzte Stück ein Feldweg.

Am Startpunkt ist es mit dem Parken nicht ganz einfach, deshalb ist folgender Punkt eine Alternative:
N 50°46.012 O 006°01.948. Dann müßt ihr noch 300m durch einen sehr schönen Hohlweg laufen, der 60 Höhenmeter beinhaltet.

Nutzer des öffentlichen Personennahverkehrs können mit den Linien 25, 35, 55, 70 und 33 bis zur "Schmiedgasse" fahren und müssen noch 600m bis zum Startpunkt mehr einplanen.www.avv.de

N 50°45.972 und O 006°02.219 ist der Startpunkt, folgt nun dem Dreiländerweg.
Am Wegkreuz habt ihr im Westen Aussicht über die Niederlande www.niederlande.de
Im Südwesten seht ihr eine Turmspitze aus dem Wald ragen. Dort ist der Dreiländerpunkt mit vielen Attraktionen, wie Restaurants, einem Labyrinth, Aussichtstürmen, der höchsten Erhebung der Niederlande dem "Vaalserberg" mit 322,7 m über NN und vielem mehr. www.drielandenpunt.nl
Südlich eures Standpunktes blickt ihr über Belgien, welches für seine Fritten berühmt ist. www.belgium.be
Und im Osten von euch habt ihr einen tollen Blick über Aachen, welches in Deutschland liegt. www.deutschland.de
Wenn ihr euch einmal nach Norden dreht, könnt ihr euch das imposante Klinikum ansehen. Dieses Krankenhaus hat diverse Auszeichnungen für seine Architektur, aber auch für seine Forschungsarbeiten erhalten. www.ukaachen.de

Spaziert weiter am "kleinen Bergcafè" bergcafé vorbei oder genießt in diesem schönen Ambiente Kaffee und Kuchen oder ein Bier vom Faß,
bestaunt die Naturdenkmäler und folgt links dem "Gemmenicher Weg".

Vorbei an der Reitschule Reitschule Goka findet ihr bei N 50°45.812 und O 006°02.443 die heiß ersehnte Dose. Hier befindet ihr euch immer noch in 233m über NN, beeindruckend, was?

Links hoch führt euch hinter der Bank ein Feldweg zum Ausgangspunkt zurück.

Three Countries

This years Klenkes event takes place in the Euregio Maas-Rhein, where the borders of the three countries Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands get together. Maybe you would like to view them from above.

The trip is about 2 kilometers long, with an elevation gain of app. 30 meters. Most of the time you walk on paved roads, only the last few meters are a bit muddy.

It´s not recommended to park your car on the start of the trip, but at N 50°46.012 O 006°01.948 it should be no problem. You have to walk app. 300m along a very beautiful narrow pass with a elevation gain of roundabout 60 meters.

If you travel by buss you can use the bus routes 25, 35, 55, 70 and 33 to the bus stop "Schmiedgasse". From there you have to walk 600m to the starting point of the tour.

The trip starts at N 50°45.972 und O 006°02.219. From here you have to follow the "Dreilaenderweg".
If you take a look to the west at the wayside cross, you can see the Netherlands. www.niederlande.de
To the southwest you can see a tower protrude over the treetops. This is the "Dreiländerpunkt" with it´s restaurants, labyrinth, lookouts and other attractions. There is also the highest peak of the Netherlands, the "Vaalser Berg", raising impressive 322,7 meters above sea level. www.drielandenpunt.nl
South of your position you see Belgium, famous for it´s french fries. www.belgium.be
And to the east there is Aix-la-Chapelle, Germany. www.deutschland.de
Now turn to the north. The strange looking building is the Klinikum, or clinical center, part of the RWTH, the university of Aachen. www.ukaachen.de

Go further along the road to the Hotel "Das kleine Bergcafé" bergcafé or maybe admire the scenic view and have a cup of coffee and some cake or a draught beer.
Now turn left into the "Gemmenicher Weg".

Walk down the road, pass by the sign pointing to the riding Reitschule Goka and at N50°45.812 und O 006°02.443 you will find the cache. You´re still at 233 meters above sea level at this place, impressive, isn´t?

Behind the bench, to the left you will find a field path that will take you back to the start of the tour.
