Stipky Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

K vyzvednutí cache není treba lézt do bunkru!

English: The cache is located near bunker MO-S 17 "Štipky," which was bulit in 1936 as a part of fortification system near Hlucín. The building was constructed for 41 men in II. rank of resistance (width of ceiling 200cm, width of front wall 225cm).

The interesting thing about this bunker is that it was the only one part of the Ostrava fortification system which has been masked by wire nets with coloured jute patches. The rest of the fortification objects were black-painted, because it was expected that the Germans would attack it at night or dawn.

The fort was destroyed in 1945 by Soviet troops, who filled it with explosives and ammo and fired it – interesting thing is, that the ceiling broke off and flipped round in the air, broke asunder and while a part of it fell down into the building, another part landed back on the walls – so if you come there, you have an unique possibility to walk on a flipped bunker ceiling :). Despite the fact that the whole building is in poor condition, part of the interior is accessible, but be careful and watch your steps.

The bunker is located about 750m from public accessible fort MO-S 19 "Alej," which is competely reconstructed and in which resides a well-appointed military museum with parking area.

There is no need to enter the bunker to find the cache!
