Geocache Description:

Welcome to Arne's Perfect Picnic Cache! Feel free to bring your swimsuits and picnic basket and chill out with this superb view of Lake Atitlan.

Don't forget to check the gallery for an aerial view of the cache area. The cache is located between Santiago, Atitlan, and Cerro de Oro, directly across the lake from Panajachel. It's on private property, with permission and maintenance by its owner. This scenic piece of land is only a short boat ride from Santiago. The "5" terrain rating is somewhat deceptive---it's rated a "5" because of the "special equipment" (aka "boat")you need---but, in reality, the terrain is about a "3" if approached from the east. Although the terrain seems forbidding from the lakeside, a small trail leads up to the cache location from the boat dock, heading east past the fisherman's campsite (in case you aren't in the mood for climbing). The walk is less than 5 minutes. Since the cache is located among boulders, it's not suitable for young children, but should be fine for older kids---still, a careful step is required. The cache is easy to find with the hint, and somewhat challenging without.

Enjoy the fantastic view and the good swimming! Remember that this is private land, so be considerate and leave it as you found it : )
