Bird Ridge Trail is rated moderate to difficult. Hiking time can be 3 to 6 hours in good weather. Elevation gain is 3400 feet from the parking lot.
After a steep ascent to treeline, spectacular views of Turnagain Arm and Chugach State Park's interior come quickly. We saw several eagles riding the thermal air currents as we climbed. Be prepared for quick weather changes, bears, mosquitos and the pesky black flies that will draw blood. The best "window of opportunity" for this cache seems to be July, August and September due to snow cover. Cache includes a log sheet that must be signed to validate this as a "find"
