I am originally from Berlin but I live in Edinburgh now. Having
placed a cache in Berlin that is based on knowledge obtainable from
Scottish cache pages, this is now the equivalent in Edinburgh based
on knowledge obtainable from German cache pages. Please swap in
Scottish souvenirs for the German ones; I will take them to
Berlin and place them in the cache there.
Please note: unlike its
complement in Berlin, this cache is located on difficult terrain. I
strongly suggest, you wear boots, long sleeves and perhaps even
gloves. Make sure you always got a good steady hold - while I don't
think it is dangerous, sliding down the hill on your backside
through thorny vegetation is probably not desirable.
This is
definitely NOT one for beginners, children or those who are afraid
of heights.
Added 16/9/2006: In light of recent events I
have re-evaluated the cache site and would like to add two comments
to stop people from straying onto dangerous terrain:
- you don't need to go higher than the (only proper) tree in the
area
- an (animal?) trail leads you within 5m of the cache, so if you
find yourself fighting gorse bushes, you are probably wrong
Use your own judgement and don't insist on doing it if you don't
feel comfortable.
The cache is located at :
55°55.(B-E)(F)(A-C)'N, 3°11.(F-E)(F-B)(D+C-E)'W
- One cache near the Citadel in Spandau was placed exactly
4A years after they started building the Berlin Wall.
- A virtual, moving cache in the shape of a camper van transmits
its position on 144.B00 MHz APRS.
- The biggest vulcan caldera in SW-Germany is listed as an earth
cache. The diameter of it is 1.C km
- A cache in Berlin is placed near the end of a green laser beam.
The wave length of the laser is D32 nm.
- Two remote relatives of Asterix (bsterix & csterix) have
hidden a lunch buffet cache in Stuttgart that is only open
E:00 to 20:00.
- Minz has hidden a cache near a famous/historic shower where
cachers are required to post a photo of themselves having a cold
shower to qualify as a found. The shower was built in
184F.
