Go west off N7 south of Springbok through Wildeperdehoek Pass. The road has a sign indicating Hondeklipbaai. The access road is gravel and rough with very steep banks and spectacular views. The road can be navigated with a 2 wheel vehicle, however a 4x4 would be better as the road is corrigated and may have washouts and potholes. The hike to the cach is about 500m and is clearly marked. You can drive a 4x4 down if you are adventerous.
The cache is located at the ruens of an old jail approximatly 48 km from Springbok along the "Messelpad" on the banks of the Buffels River. The buildings were erected in 1867 and were used to house convicts who built the spectacular road. On completion of the pass in 1869 the buildings became derelict. If you are interested in the area I would recomend that you stop in at the Springbok Lodge for some literature. There is unique plant life around every corner and the locals say that this is one of the best areas to see the wild flowers in the spring (August and September). Please post a picture of your favorite flowers or plants that you see along the way! The cache is stocked with lots of goodies that I brought with me from Canada and marks our 100th Geocache log.
