Na rijp beraad heb ik besloten om de micro op bovenstaande coordinaten te laten liggen. Hij ligt daar goed en er is genoeg (gratis) parkeerplaats in de buurt. De onderstaande beschrijving is van de eigenlijke cacheomgeving (N51 05,980 E4 14,070). De plaats is te voet te bereiken, mocht u daar interesse voor hebben.
In de onmiddellijke omgeving bevindt zich het ‘oude’ gemeentehuis, het landhuis, waar nu het plaatselijke VVV-kantoor gehuisvest is. Hier kan u terecht voor toeristische informatie van de streek. Het gemeentehuis zelf heeft nu enkel nog een ceremoniële functie.
Wat verderop staat de Kerk van Bornem met zijn Romaanse crypte. Hier werd Pedro Coloma, baron van Bornem, in 1621 begraven. Hij wordt ook wel de weldoener van deze streek genoemd.
Dit alles is gesitueerd rond het Cardinaal Cardijnplein met zijn vele terrasjes en eetgelegenheden. Hier geldt wel betalend parkeren!!!

Beurmse Snake: The Town Hall
(Beurm is the local dialect for Bornem)
You can find the old town hall of Bornem at the following coordinates: n51 05,980 e4 14,070. The cache lays at the new town hall, because it was easier to hide it there.
If you are interested in it, then you better walk the short distance because you have to pay to park your car on the nearby parkinglot.
The old town hall itself is now only used for ceremonial purposesses. In the neighbourhood of the old town hall, you can also find the main church of Bornem. It has a Roman crypt, where Pedro Coloma, baron of Bornem, was buried in 1691. Pedro Coloma was known as the benefactor of this region.
!! 29/9/08 New: The old plastic micro is now replaced with an alu-container in a camo-jacket. Please close both very carefully before putting it back!
