Bienvienidos amigos. This multi stage cache will lead you to two
easy waypoints and then a final cache that will provide a nice view
of Volcan Agua framed by trees. The final cache is located in the
same park as my other nearby cache, Cerro de la Cruz, so if you start with this
multicache you should end up with two finds and a nice view
(weather permitting). The first two waypoints are plaques (to
reduce cache maintenance). Please be discreet in your hunt and
make sure no one sees you at the final so that it will last a
while. You may also want to go with a group of friends to be
safe. Tree cover will likely make the final a bit tough so use
the hint. Please rehide the cache well.
Hazy skies obscured the nice view of Volcan Agua for the
picture.
The listed coordinates are for waypoint 1. At this location you
will be near a famous feature in Antigua. There are two dates on a
plaque denoting an anniversary. To calculate waypoint 2 determine
how many years the plaque is commemorating (XXX). Also determine
what day in March the plaque was dedicated (YY).
waypoint 2: N14 33.(511 + XXX)
W90 43.(760 + YY)
At waypoint two you will find another plaque. Use the number of
men named on the plaque (Z) to compute the location of the
final.
Final: N14 33.(964 + YY + Z)
W90 43.(760 + Z + Z)
Small note on cache maintenance: Twice a year I
am visiting Guatemala and will continue to do so for the next
several years which will provide opportunity to maintain
them.
