Geocache Description:








Høytorp fort som ble bygget i perioden 1912 -17 er et godt bevart eksempel på de gamle fortene langs grensen. Fortet er et komplekst anlegg med bombesikre rom i et sentralt fjellanlegg. Utvendig er anlegget betongmurt og med et geværgalleri ut mot en vollgrav på tre sider.


Fortet dekker et stort område med mange bygninger og stillinger for flere ulike kanontyper.


Etter datidens forhold var Høytorp et meget sterkt festningsanlegg med fast garnison. Mobiliseringsoppsetningen besto av 3500-4000 mann.
