Geocache Description:

This cache is not for the faint of heart!!! A 3.5 mile hike or bike ride, followed by a .5 mile walk will lead you to Flint Rock and stupendous views of S. Holston Lake, Clinch Mountain, High Knob, Bristol, Abingdon, and the valleys in between.

Access via Stoney Creek and parking coordinates at
N 36 27.604, W082 05.321 will result in 250 foot elevation change down to the cache. Take the first left on grassy double track at the concrete pile. Stay on the trail, no bushwhacking required. This is easy grassy double track until USFS trail #49 (Flint Mill) which is reached in 3.3 miles at Flint Mill Gap. This trail leads .5 miles to Flint Rock and is intended for walking, not bicycles, or ATVs, which unfortunately have used it heavily. Children should not climb to the top of the rock. Waiting for a clear day, bringing binoculars, and snacks and water for the hike will make this a great day trip.

Alternatively, if you have Arnold Schwartzennagger legs, you can park at N36 29.035 W082 04.245 along Camp Tom Howard Rd. and climb 2000' directly to the rock on the Flint Mill Trail. This cache is in Cherokee National Forest where campsites abound.
