Geocache Description:

**NOTICE** The rest area is open again. This Travel Bug Resort is accessible from the North and South at this time. Depending upon the season, you could encounter Nettles, Poison Ivy, mosquitoes, muggles, mud, Locust Tree thorns on the ground, and lots of spider webs. We have never seen any bears here. Take care.

Upon your arrival, check out the plaque on the rock by the North side of the Rest Area building, (N 40° 21.578 W 089° 06.592). Take note of the year that Isaac built his log cabin on this very spot, for you will need it to complete the cache. The tree cover will make your GPS needle dance a little jig. You are looking for a camouflaged ammo container. ISAAC FUNK, born in the 1700's, was an Early American Pioneer who settled in these woodlands when he ascertained its potential. There were many Sugar Maple trees in the area and Isaac and his neighbors collected the sap to make the only sweetener available at the time. When you search for this cache, you will see the blue tubes on the adjacent private property that the Funk descendants use today to collect the sap for their "Maple Sirup." Please stay on the Rest Area side of the fence. **NOTE** Since the cache was destroyed by vandals, we have moved the cache to another location. If the rest area is closed again, you can access the cache from old RT 66. Park at N 40° 21.742 W 089° 06.611 and bushwhack due East through the rest area forest.
