This cache has been archived.

Bob Smith: As a consequence of reduced mobility resulting in inability to maintain my caches this coupled with with a general loss of interest means I am archiving all my caches.

Geocache Description:

Located to the West of High Wycombe
Suitable for a cache and dash.

Not for this one the pretty country walk, the cache is hidden on a little used public footpath which runs close to the local refuse destructor plant. Visible from the cache is a former 'landfill' site now being covered over, at one time is was a fairly deep valley.

Starting from the suggested parking spot the path is easy and not particularly muddy, OK for children and dogs, there are no stiles to negociate,

Do not park on the main road as it can be extremely busy and there have been many accidents on this stretch. A suitable parking spot is at

N 51 35.886 W 000 47.889

Close by is an airfield, a popular spot for gliding enthusiasts. The airfield was originally know as Marlow Airport. It was requisitioned by the Air Ministry in 1941 when it became known as RAF Booker and was the home of Number 21 Elementary Flying Training School (EFTS). It is now known as Wycombe Air Park.

The airfield has been the backdrop to many films, parts of 'Those Magnificent Men in the Their Flying Machines' and 'Aces High' were filmed here.

The cache is a small screw top container, not suitable for large TBs or swaps.

GPSr may be a problem but my GPS was OK at the cache. Measured on two different days the error was less than four metres
