The Bay Trail through Redwood Shores can be ridden as a
level loop trip around the Redwood Shores peninsula on paved or
gravel paths.
Redwood Shores is a 1500-acre peninsula that
juts into San Francisco Bay east of Hwy 101, between Foster
City and the Bair Islands. On its northwest flank is Belmont
Slough. To the southeast is Steinberger Slough. Along its
northeast point on San Francisco Bay are marshlands that are
part of the Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife
Refuge. Artificial lagoons and channels run through the center
of the peninsula, while sloughs and marshes surround it.
This cache is along Belmont Slough. Unless you find appropriate
access, you won't be able to follow that arrow too easily. If it's
been raining recently, the levee part of the trail will be sticky
mud. If you go ahead, remember, I warned you. The cache container
is a film-can micro with log, and room for small trade items. Bring
your own pen.
The cache is on the open portion of the trail. Dogs are allowed,
but must be on leash. Respect the endangered species' habitat
behind the fences.
