The cache is on the trails at the Beaver Ski club. It is located
just past an elaborate feeding station for squirrels and birds.
There is always a lot of activity at the feeders: many squirrels,
lots of chickadees, as well as a few species of woodpeckers and
sometimes even an owl, eyeing a squirrel lunch.
If you don't want to ski, it is a short easy walk from the
parking lot. You may walk on the trail but please don't step in the
groomed track. If you wish, you can also snow shoe. The parking lot
is only available in winter as it is a plowed field. In order to
help cachers who may want to go in summer, we are posting the
coordinates for the entrance to the field. Access to the cache is
via the trail in the south east corner of the field.
In the mid 1980's a number of neighbours in the Saint Marcel
area got together and created cross-country ski trails on their
land. They built a camp and created a ski club for their own
enjoyment. They did such a great job that people from all over
started to come. It is now the largest ski club in the province.
The club usually has more than 400 members and over 20 kms of
groomed trails. You don't need to be a member to ski here. The
daily non-member rate is $3 per adult, $1 for children or $7 per
family payable on the honour system at the camp which is located 3
kms from the parking lot.
There are very few hills so this is a good place for beginners.
The heated camp is open every day and serves hot meals on
weekends.
We are members of the club and we take care of the
skibeaver
website The website has detailed maps of the area and the
ski trails
Cache is a small tobacco container with a few small trading
items, a log book, pencil and sharpener. It is placed above the
snow.
PLEASE NOTE: Kids will love this cache. You may want to bring
nuts and seeds with you. HOWEVER find the cache before feeding any
of the wild life... from experience if you feed the animals first
you end up with a destroyed cache {';'}
